Nick -- what happened with the last family you lived with?

Leah -- [looks at the ground, tears roll down her cheeks]

Nick -- Leah? Whats wrong?

Leah -- [wipes her tears]

Nick -- [hugs her] what happened?

Leah -- they hit me

Nick -- what?

Leah -- the two boys

Nick -- im so sorry Leah

Leah -- its okay, if they didnt hit me i wouldnt be here..with you

Nick -- [kisses her head] i wont let anything happen to you

Leah -- thanks Nick

Nick -- want to go have cake?

Leah -- [laughs] sure

Nick -- [takes her hand, goes downstairs] mom can we have desert?

Mrs. Jonas -- sure, do you want me to get it?

Nick -- no i can [gets a piece of cake for him and then one for Leah] can we eat it upstairs?

Mrs. Jonas -- no, but you can have it in the living room, Joe and Kevin are watching a movie

Nick -- fine [goes into the living room]

Leah -- [follows him]

Joe -- go away Nick

Nick -- why?

Joe -- cuz this movie is pg 13

Nick -- your barely 13 Joe

Kevin -- Leahs only 8 Nick

Nick -- [looks at Leah] you are?

Leah -- [nods]

Nick -- oh, well can we watch tv for a bit and then you can go back to your movie

Kevin -- fine [changes the movie to a tv show]

Nick -- [sits down on the couch]

Leah [sits next to him, they eat their cake]

Joe -- when can we watch our movie

Nick -- later Joe!

Joe -- [crosses his arms]

Kevin -- Joe stop being so annoying

Nick -- yeah Joe!

Joe -- [glares at him]

Nick -- [finishes eating, turns to Leah] done?

Leah -- [nods, they leave]

Joe -- finally

Kevin -- [turns the movie back on]

Joe -- dont you think Leahs a bit weird?

Kevin -- what do you mean?

Joe -- she never talks

Kevin -- shes just shy, shes been thru a lot Joe

Joe -- what do you mean?

Kevin -- shes been thru verbal and physical abuse

Joe -- are you serious!

Kevin -- yeah

Joe -- but shes so little, who would do that to such a cute little kid

Kevin -- i thot you said she was weird

Joe -- well i----not anymore

Kevin -- you cant tell anyone about this tho

Joe -- why not?

Kevin -- just dont Joe

Joe -- fine

LATER

Nick -- [laying on his bed next to Leah] so we can go swimming in the morning maybe and then after mom wants to take you shopping. But then when you get back we can play some more

Leah -- kay

Mrs. Jonas -- [comes in] its getting late, you two need to get ready for bed, ill be back to check on you in about 15 minutes

Nick -- okay

Mrs. Jonas -- here are you pjs Leah [hands them to her, leaves]

Nick -- im going to go and change and get ready for bed ill be back in a second

Leah -- okay

Nick -- [grabs his pjs, leaves]

Leah -- [changes into her pjs, gets ready for bed and then gets into bed]

Nick -- [comes back in, hands her a teddy bear] i found this in your room. I thot you might want it

Leah -- thanks Nick [hugs the bear]

Nick -- [gets into bed]

Mrs. Jonas -- [comes in] all ready?

Nick -- yeah

Mrs. Jonas -- goodnight [turns the light off, leaves]

Leah -- [hugs the bear a bit tighter]

Nick -- goodnight Leah

Leah -- goodnight [falls asleep]

Nick -- [falls asleep too]

IN THE MORNING

Leah -- [wakes up, looks around] Nick? [gets out of bed, goes downstairs] Nick!!

Nick -- im in the living room

Leah -- [runs to the living room]

Nick -- [sitting on the couch]

Leah -- [runs over to him, hugs him]

Nick -- [hugs her back] whats wrong?

Leah -- i didnt know where you were

Joe -- [comes in with Kevin] so she does speak

Kevin -- [hits Joe]

Joe -- ow

Nick -- stop being mean Joe

Joe -- i wasnt being mean

Nick -- [takes Leahs hand goes upstairs] just ignore him

Leah -- he doesnt like me

Nick -- he doesnt like anyone

Leah -- [giggles]

Nick -- [smiles a bit] so what do you want to do today?

Leah -- i donno

Mrs. Jonas -- [comes in] Leah?

Leah -- [looks at her]

Mrs. Jonas -- we can go shopping in about an hour, okay?

Leah -- [nods]

Mrs. Jonas -- [leaves]

Nick -- how come im the only one you talk to?
