I just saw the movie. With everything that those admirable women did to get women the right to vote, it's shameful that women don't vote as much as they should.

Teens up to 21 went through suffrage as well (1970s voting age was lowered from 21 to 18), and it's also shameful that they don't vote. Honor the people who fought, and gave their lives for, everything that we can do now.

VOTE DAMN YOU!

Women were barely allowed to be nurses so close to the field in WW1. In WW11 women worked in factories, became aircraft pilots, spies and nurses. They did their part, because they hadn't gotten the right to join the ranks of their male comrades. But they would later. It's called slow progression in human thinking.

@bearsagainstevil I don't know much about British suffragists, but these women fought for and deserved the right to vote. If they didn't have right to own land, why would anyone even have the notion of females FIGHTING in what was mostly a mans world? It's impractical for women to fight land wars. Majority of people supported the war, it wasn't just the suffragists. Not excusing what you say they did, but it doesn't make them hypocrites or their cause less valuable.

in the UK the suffragettes used to give white feathers to men not fighting in the first world war, they didn't campaign for the right of women to be used as cannon fodder as men were used as cannon fodder, they didn't campaign for that right in the second world war either .

if your sexist in who you think should be sent to die for your country why the hell should you have the vote, I have no respect for the suffragettes or for any women who votes when a disproportion of men are being killed
