Train with me at http://myhitechtrainer.com/tihealthandfitness

What if I told you that by adding just one exercise to your training repertoire, you would be stronger, more flexible and more coordinated and be able to run faster, jump higher and have overall better health? Would it be worth investing the time to learn and practice? If you answered "Yes", then I have just the exercise for you. The one-leg squat, or aptly named "pistol", is one of the most demanding and beneficial exercises in existence , and the only thing you need to get started is your body and the determination to succeed. This article will describe the benefits of the one-leg squat, identify the most common limiting factors that restrict progress and outline several "troubleshooting" methods to help you achieve your goal of mastering pistols.

  • Hey Tuan,

just wondering if you could help me out i experience pain on my outer knee when running deadlifting heavy hamstring curls etc. i was told it is either ITBS (illotibial band syndrome) or bicep femoris tendonitis just wondering if their are any good warm up excercises to help with the pain or any way of treating it so it heals

    thanks.

  • @HeLLaHoOkEd try to do some foam rolling on your ITB. best thing for that is to do some myofacial release

  • you make it look to easy! but how many sets do you do to warm up?

  • @dabul2003 1 to 3 sets. just depends on how much you need to do to get the mechnics flowing

  • @roughneckasian thanx for the reply but i jus tried some right now and its way to hard but the thng is i have bad knees and it reallly puts pressure on the kness. and you might be thnking how in the world do i do squats? well i dont lock out my knees, i keep a slight bend.

  • @dabul2003 try doing this while sitting and standing on a bench first. I have a video on that as well.

  • Hey Tuan! Thanks for the vidz! what is your diet like? if you could briefly give an idea; Thanks.

  • @dabul2003 Your telling me you do 5 Reps = 1 Set and you do 3 sets which means 15 reps and THATS a warm-up for you? That's pretty much my leg workout for me...

  • Theres no way that is easy especially being your size and weight...

  • can i do dumbell curls instead of this?

  • These are good for for my legs, but I have to do mine assisted until I get strong enough.

  • Oh I forgot to add...Check out Steve Maxwell for more exercise ideas similar to the pistol. Steve is a world class athlete whom shares his knowledge with us all.

  • Tuan your flexibility and agility exceeds that of a typical bodybuilder. I believe this is due in part to your incorporation of exercises such as the pistol and boxing in your workout routines. You are a well rounded athlete and if people here would open their minds they would see this and enjoy major gains in their general fitness.

  • nice! any more of these mobility warm up videos you would like to share? some greats ideas.

  • man i cant even do one!, i can squat lots of weight but these are going to take alot of practise, do you think doing these will help my squat as well?
