[NOTE: This video is only the first 20 minutes of the full lesson, please visit my website to purchase complete version] This lesson consists of providing you with a Self-Tutorial on how to solve typical linear word problems (story problems or applied problems). The tutor shows you how to solve for a specific variable in formulas. He also discusses how to covert a repeating decimal into a fraction (which was skipped in Basic Math: Lesson 6 -"Fractions") and will teach you how to convert units of measurement.

Examples of word problems done include:

Finding a number based on certain criteria.
Word problems involving some geometry (triangle, rectangle, circle).
Age problems.
Mixture problems.
Money problems (story of my life!).
Rate-Time-Distance problems.
Percent Equations/problems.
Ratio and Proportion (concepts and solving problems, including similar triangles).
Problems dealing with Unit Price.

  • the word proplems are too hard to solve,i don't know what to do.

  • @ahmedelkahef If you are having a hard time with the word problems in this video, you may need to first watch and study the "Basic Math" videos I have here. Also watch the algebra videos that were made before this one (use playlist to see). Downloading the printable math notes will be helpful too. Some are free, others you would need to pay for (or get the DVD to get both full video lessons and notes).

  • How much is the full version?

  • @coachey01 It depends. You can rent it, download movie, just get the PDF notes, or buy the DVD (which includes the PDF notes and movies in different formats). All these details are at my website. If you need more help, just send me an email message.

  • How do we know that A - 2L = 2W is being multiplied so we know to divide. Is that like the second rule after the subtraction?

  • @sman261979 I explain that in Part 1 of this lesson.

  • @daryllclarin Yes. Why is that relevant?

  • Congratulation you are wonderful. In previous videos You sayd that you are not teacher that you are a tutor. I think you are a natural teacher and you have what a lot teachers haven't creativity and sense of humor. 100 % for all what you teach us, keep going...GOD bless you. Oh Me gusto la enchilada que se comio en unos de los videos.
