Disney to Acquire Comic Book Giant Marvel

The Walt Disney Company has announced an agreement to acquire Marvel Entertainment in a $4 billion cash and stock deal. The surprise agreement means the company that owns Mickey Mouse, could soon own the rights to Spiderman, Iron Man and thousands of other Marvel comic strip characters. VOA's Mil Arcega takes a look at what the deal means for Disney and the popular super hero franchise.

All Disney asks is that Marvel pay rent. Disney doesn't want to interfere with Marvel because then it'll ruin Marvel's brand. It just wants to mooch off its success. Disney owns all of ESPN...think about that. Is Micky over there?

I'm going 2 try 2 paint a picture & make this as SIMPLE as possible to follow. Imagine Marvel is a guy. Now Marvel is successful in his own apartment & makes good money. Disney however, is another guy who owns a mansion and has all these studios & connections. Disney comes over and offers Marvel a room in his mansion. Marvel now lives in the mansion & does all the stuff he wants 2 but now he can use all the rooms of Disney's mansion 2 his own benefit. All the studios,all the connections, etc...

@kristijan362 Don't worry. They won't "Disneyized" Marvel. Marvel is always remain uncensored and uncut. Besides, they stated that their acquisition of the company WILL NOT affect Marvel's products, neither will the nature of any Marvel characters be transformed. So Disney's being smart.
