Ohh yeh I forgot to mention that this sounds like disco papp because it was, Ellie and Ray were both members of Liquid Gold who gave us "Dance yourselves dizzy" after joining and folding Babe Ruth.
Babe Ruth had crumbled by this recording, Alan Shacklock had left fort the states, Dave Hewitt was off too, later apearing in the original lineup of the Georgia Satellites with Dan Bairn, Jenni had her band Jenni Haans Lion. This line up was the bands dying breath, Consisting of Ellie Hope Vocals,Steve Gurl Keyboards, Bernie Marsden guitars,Ray Knott Bass,Simon Lambeth: guitars, Bernie went on to playing in Whitesnake. The rest vanished into obscurity.
Some might call it adventurous others might call it shit pop that killed the scene. Although I loved the Casino and was regular from 2nd niter till 79 but still went till the en,d I dont see it through rose tinted shades. It has both pros and cons just as the Mecca and Levine did. Both IMO buggered the scene up a bit. But I wouldnt swap my time at either of them. Peeps would leave Mr Ms for this.
Another thought, altough Levine was considered adventerous, and i've made similar positive comments we seem to forget that in ways like this, notwithstanding the fact even the Torch (my favourite place) played dodgy stuff as well, Wigan could be adventerous. I like that word, cos we were!
The original Babe Ruth were a band from Hatfield, Herts. They were put together by guitarist Alan Shacklock and Jenny Haan. They appeared on The Old Grey Whistle Test - and they didn't play "northern soul". They became big in the U.S. and Al Shacklock eventually left to become a highly successful producer. Any other version of the band was subsequent to that.

@xxxpozed Think her vocals sound more polished on the 3.43 version than on this one. Guitar is better too! Oz

I remember seeing them live at Loughborough uni in 1975 or 1976. Jenny was rather gorgeous as I recall
