  • Yes Falcanary, he most certainly is a musical genius and those of us who know all his work can regognize that. He is the best damn musician in the world, not just Cajun music, and I think others must share my opinion because he just received the United Artists grant and the NEA award.

  • Again, glad you enjoy.

  • Love seeing Michael Doucet and Beausoleil. What year was this?

  • Fall 2007

  • Wow, that was recent, I thought they looked older. They still play at Randols as famous as they are? I swear, Michael Doucet and Beausoleil are always down to earth even though Michael's a musical genius.

  • "As famous"? For Cajun music, maybe. "musical genius"? well, opinions are opinions i guess. Glad you enjoy!

  • sublissime , un enchantement.merci mille fois.

  • Je n'ai pas compris grand chose, mais ce fut sympathique.

  • Vive Michel Doucet! Vive le pays Cajun.

  • With regard to the back and forth about Michael's (relative) genius, one thing's for sure in my book, his brother David is tremendously underrated. His guitar is just right. He does a great job in the band, but his solo album, 1957: Solo Cajun Guitar, is one of the best, ever.

  • J'aime beaucoup! Je sais que je suis une novice de la musique cajun mais je trouve que ça ressemble beaucoup à la musique country...

Mais l'accent est très mignon. Et continuez à faire revivre vos racines!

  • falcanary, you doubt Michael's musical reputation? ;-) That was one of the first aspects about him that captivated me: his musical genius. I've seen him over a dozen times with BeauSoleil and also in other bands such as (now defunct) Fiddlers 4.

Personally, I don't think they look old (anymore). On first sight, sure they "look" older, but hearing them play, they lose about thirty years. Besides, they are only in their 50s. Old is truly a state of mind.

  • The GREATEST Cajun Band in my opinion: B E A U S O L E I L!! Have seen 'em twice; wonderful!! :D AEEE!! Laissez les bon temps rouler, chere's!

  • we always need to remember who we are. as a franco-americain i say sadly we have a long way to go to preserve our language, but if both cadien and canayen can work together maybe we can stand just like la raza stands.

  • whats for a languages?
