On the occasion of the 64th World Food Day, Pope Benedict XVI sent a letter to the Director General of the UNs Food and Agriculture Organization.

In the letter the pope mentioned how the economic crisis has permeated through all sectors of society but has particularly affected agriculture in a dramatic way.

He called on the international community to ensure the adequate access of food to those who need it most around the world, an issue he believes is fundamentally rooted in the right to life.

Benedict, who will attend the World Summit on Food Security in November, highlighted the idea of farming methods and said that natural resources should not be wasted.

  • I can give dozen examples from my personal experience. But i really know how much money they they spend.I just see how much money they spend on another purposes.

  • I don't know how much of the church's money goes to the people of Africa. Do you? Can you give me examples of corrupt politicians and militants they help? I'm not saying you're wrong, I'd just like examples.

  • I didn't say they don't' do it at all.BUT they spend billions because of their pedophile actions. And how much they spend to people in Africa?More of that they cooperate in local corrupted politician and militants they help more then then to people.I lived in Africa i know what i am taking.

  • The Catholic Church does not feed the hungry? Are you sure? I'm not saying they couldn't do more, but they sure as hell do more than I do.

Though I don't know if it's true, I've heard it said that the Catholic Church is the largest charity organization in the world. Do you know anything about to what degree the church works for the poor? I must confess ignorance.

  • Where are all these rights coming from? Right to food, right to free health care. Man I hope I get something good out of all these rights soon. How about right to a free house? I could use one of those, mortgages are mean. There are a lot of poor people that need houses. And cars! Right to own a car, how can you get to work without a car. We need more free stuff, get on that pope!

  • Catholics church have so much money and resources they can solve this problem BUT they like to speak not to act.

  • Is this an open invitation to come to the Vatican and eat of the bounty? Statements don't feed the hungry, food does! Put your food where your mouth is.
