My attempt at Chet Atkins' arrangement of Jerry Jeff Walker's "Mr. Bojangles". The song itself is beautiful, and Chet's arrangement of it is genius, I only wish I could do it justice. If you want to see the real thing, there is a clip on YouTube of Chet teaching this I think from his basement studio- watch that for the real mccoy, but thanks for watching this!

  • where did you learn to play so well?!

  • @josimonkeyman Thanks for the nice comment. I looked at your videos and you have a great sound. I learned to play Mr. Bojangles watching the dvd "The Guitar of Chet Atkins", highly recommended, 7 or 8 great tunes on their and the master explains everything

  • Thanks, that's a great quote from Jerry Jeff Walker! This one, I played in one take, with no editing. I DID take some time to try and tweak the sound after the fact, adding some compression and reverb. Thanks again for the comment!

  • Great pickin`and tone!

  • Yeah, don't be fooled by this guy's mellow appearance! His heart is rooted in rock and roll and in particular in 70's punk. He taught me the chords to "Sonic Reducer" by the Dead Boys and he has the bass line for "Flying Saucer Attack" by the Rezillos, down!!!!

  • Jerry Jeff is famous for saying: The only way to know how much is enough, is to do too much, and then back up. I think you nailed this one perfectly. But it makes me wonder, Is this the result of a little backing up on your part (perhaps in post- or engineering)?

  • Sound is good! Now you look like Dr. House?
