History was made less than 2 weeks ago when Senator Barack Obama was officially made the Democratic nominee for President. The networks showed images of over 8,000 hopeful Americans chanting out "Yes we can!" in Denver Colorado while millions of others watched in awe on television in their homes. This nomination was pivotal, it could change the face of the American Presidency forever, but would most black women, and women of all other ethnicities in general still vote for Senator Obama if they knew that there was another female candidate who was running for the United States Presidency? In fact, would they immediately have a change of heart when they found out that this candidate was not only a woman, but African American as well? The reality is that most Americans don't even know that there is another choice out there, they've never heard her name, or seen her face. Black Tree TV had the opportunity to sit and talk with her, and would like to formally introduce our viewers and the world to Americas other African American Presidential Nominee and former U.S. Congresswoman Cynthia Mc Kinney. She is the Green Party's 2008 nominee for the Presidency.
A veteran to public service, Mc Kinney has served as a Democrat for the U. S. House of Representatives, as well as representing Georgia's 4th Congressional District until 2007. While sitting down with Black Tree's own Jamaal Finkley, Mc Kinney filled viewers in about the Green Party, and how it remains true to its grassroots values. A former Democrat herself, she credits her party switch to being "uneasy with the relationship between the Democratic Party and the black American voter", going on to say that the blacks whom she served in Dekalb County Georgia always voted Democratic, and found that it never worked out in their favor "for those who needed it the most". That African Americans are "investing in the Democratic Party, but not receiving a return on their investment."

The party she currently represents was founded in 2001 and originally sought out to "help existing state parties grow". The Green Party seeks to "renew Democracy without the support of corporate donors". Mc Kinney is a disbeliever in two party systems, saying that the parties "disregards the values of its members and pays more attention to special interests". Her last message to the people is that she's "hungry for justice and doesn't mind being called a radical". If you would like to know more about The Green Party, and Cynthia Mc Kinney, be sure to check out Blacktree TV's exclusive interview with her on Youtube. More information about this candidate can also be found on www. Gp.org.

  • not all MEN in history where allowed to vote... ONlY the rich and land owners could vote... sooooo ALOT of men did not vote either....... and when they all where allowed THEN so where women.. so it took both men and women 72 years not just women.... lets not prtray women as the only gender with problems... considering men where the only gender ever drafted to die for the united snakes

  • Oh please what a joke after all that mess up on the hill with her fighting like some gang member and I don't mean that in a racist sense she's not even worthy for the Green Party they must have felt bad for her I know I did! LOL

  • did she kiss her teeth at nancy pelosi? Love it.

Cynthia McKinney, you are amazing. Thank you so much for you voice and your spirit. take care of yourself!!

  • You're full of shit. :)

  • I think barack obama or mccain are more "impressive" then her when it comes to giving a talk/speech. :)

  • what do you mean that she's not articulate???

  • definitely not articulate, but better than barackobama or mccain bits I have heard ... its a shame how democracy a wonderful concept doesnt work the way it should.

  • I sow this women grilling Donald Rumsfeld. She is a true public servant in your country.

  • this woman can talk. did the guy ever ask a question?!

  • She is the one of the few candidates who gives a shit about the people thats who the fuck she is. All of you who run & scream *Yes we can* for that media controlled, corporate puppet Barack Obama. Need to do y'all research on her, Dennis Kucinich, Ron Paul, & Ralph Nader. Not these fake controlled politicians.
