CD0400907 is a Retticello or Opposing Spiral marble. The spiral turned out nice(well defined) and so did the peacock on the back.

  • I see that all you seem to have for ventillation is a box fan. This is not enough! YOU ARE INHALING FUMES! Box fans do not create enough suction to clear your work area of harmful fumes. A small attic fan (to me) should be the minimum requirement for ventillation in any glass studio if you do not have a fume hood. Just lookin out bro...

  • preesh, but if you watch some of the more recent videos, ( this on IS over 2 years old) you'll see I upgradede to a Industrial strength fan

  • just a curious question, why start with an irregular gather instead of just hooking a few inches of 10mm or whatever size you like so its uniform to begin with, it would help you keep the layout more symetric, your pattern is clearly mashed off center, and could have been way more uniform in both twist and termination. good talk through though.

  • hmmm, well it's been over 2 years since this vid, but I don't remember ever intending to start with an irregular gather, I'll just say I was still in the beginner stage at that point. I've never really aimed for perfection though, that's what makes the art ,art, it's unique, life isn't perfect, why should art be? just mho thx 4 watching, I hope you see that this is all just to encourage others to start, knowing they will get better over time, like I hope I've shown I have ;)

  • and that gets it hot enough to melt boro?

  • LOL yes 8 psi from a concentrator is the same as 8 psi from a tank.... I can only go up to about 1 1/4 inches, but that's limited by the number of ports on the torch. A bigger (wider) flame will heat a bigger gather of glass.

  • wasnt meant as an attack, just a thought, and I have done the same thing for the sake of helping people learn, just look at my channel. I cant say I agree that artists should just accept where they are, and not strive to get better though, the precision IS the diff between the work of newbies like us and the real artists though. thats why some people get hundreds for a pendant instead of 10-20 per pendant. guess it just depends on your market.

  • check out the cc mini for an even better deal, or the new gtt torch that was designed from the get go to be the worlds most affordable torche designed to maximise the efficiency of using a concentrator. and save a few dollars too. the minor is more than ither thecc mioni or the newest gtt. it is the oldes design though. but not laminar unfortunately.

  • so you have obvioulsy never tried any with it, amazing what experimentation can reveal.-) yes, I worked my frist full year on a firebird, very similar to a minor, and a 5lpm concentrator, did 2 inch marbles, and multi piece tobbacco novelites, beads, vases, all without big torches, big torches really only speed it up whey you already have all the skills you are going to need.-)

  • why the hell do people not think the minor on a concentrator canmelt boro? it is a torch that has been used to teach boro work for decades! its a surface mix oxidized torch, so why think it cant do it, an oxyginated proplane flame produced the same temp no matter the torch the only real differences would be internal mix vs surface mix, but even then stochiomitry dictated very clearly what the max temp of a pure oxy propane burn will produce. its simple physics, not magic.-)

  • looks like a pizza in a glass ball :) awesome!

  • nice work man,,, workin boro with the minor, good deal.
