There are really only two choices on this matter:

You believe that the best most qualified person should get the job

or

You believe that the best person for the job is based on race

Just remember that affirmative action applies to firefighters who you may need to save your life one day, police who carry guns, rescue workers, etc.

I believe it should be the most qualified for the job and it should have nothing to do with race, period

Uh, no, they don't have any obligation to "do something about that" here's why:

1) Their job isn't to "represent the public" it's to train those who are qualified for whatever field of study they plan on entering

2) higher education isn't a right, it's a privilege. It's never been guaranteed for anyone, me included.

AA is discriminating- period. Where college is concerned there should NOT be quotas, that is absurd. If you have well qualified students then they should be given a class spot- it shouldn't matter what their background or heritage included or excludes. Jobs are horrible too; the job should go to the best candidate. I can't speak for everyone but I could care less if my heart surgeon's last name is Smith, Jones, Diaz, Patel, or anything thing else. I do believe in personal responsibility however.

I'm poor, black, went to a bad high school yadda yadda. My test scores and class rank would have got me into school if I were white, male and rich, but I would not have the funds to go. So yeah, I benefited from Affirmative Action. But Affirmative Action doesn't give me A's in Calc 1, Calc 2 Chem 1, Chem 2, Bio 1, Bio 2, History, you name it I got an A in it. I know white people from rural areas with terrible test scores that are here. And I believe they should be here. You guys are racist.
