My grandparents were dancers during the sunset years of vaudeville. Kay was born Katherine Pasmezoglu, the firstborn of Edward Pasmezoglu (a Greek immigrant from Smyrna, Turkey) and Daisy Franklin. Her father, uncle and aunt were involved in theater and amusement--so my suggestion is that is how she got involved. Dean was the son of Roy Schooley and Nellie Miller. His uncle, Edgar, was a theater producer--suggesting how Dean got involved. This also suggest how they may have met.
Dean and Kay had only one child, Roy Dean Schooley, my father.
Roy had five children, one of whom, Darcie, is now a dancer.
This is a bit of "creative genealogy" that features some of the people I'm descended from.

  • @hortenstl I knew that my grandmother remarried after Dean, but I did not know her 2nd husband also had children - so much gets lost - glad you enjoyed the video!

  • Hi Kitty. This is Kathy, also daughter of Jeanette Schooley Stanis. Fantastic video -- thanks so much! I had seen the pictures of Kay and Dean with Jeanette, but none of the others. Kay and Dean were gorgeous -- I love the publicity photos. Love the wartime era pix of Dean and Katherine, and seeing her family history, which I knew only a little of. I'd never seen Mary Weaver, either, or the ad for Roy Schooley running for circuit judge. Thanks so much. Hi to all of you "cousins" !!

  • @markaysta thanks - always nice to hear from the relatives!
