When a police detective goes hunting for the Asian crime boss who killed his partner, he stumbles on a violent plot to steal the ultimate terrorist weapon.
Detective Ty Nelson (Jeff Osterhage—The Sacketts, Dragnet) is tracking his partner's murderer, Choy Muk (martial arts legend James Lew—Traffic, Best of the Best), the leader of the Triad Dragons—a violent, fanatical Asian gang based in San Francisco.
After a heart-pounding chase through Chinatown, Nelson almost captures Choy's beautiful yet deadly lieutenant (Miranda Kwok), but gets away with only his life and a mysterious clue to Choy's next big operation.
Nelson's captain (James Russo—Open Range, Donnie Brasco, The Ninth Gate) has had enough of Nelson's obsession, and puts the haggard detective on leave. Undaunted, Nelson follows his hunch straight into a firefight between Choy's gang and a diplomatic convoy carrying a priceless art treasure bound for Los Angeles's Getty Museum.
Nelson joins the running gun battle on the side of the LAPD special tactics unit assigned to the shipment, and flees with them to a nearby ranch. There they get help from the owner—a survivalist, ex-Marine (Frank Stallone—Barfly, Tombstone).
It isn't art that Choy is after, but a new device smuggled from China with the shipment—a weapon that would bring millions on the terrorist black market—and Choy will stop at nothing to capture it.
Helmed by veteran stunt coordinator and second unit director Ron Althoff, Taken by Force is a roller coaster ride of non-stop action, breathtaking stunts, and fight sequences that run the gamut from urban fighting and martial arts to military-style confrontations.
