@SoundBlasterAudio the 8001 is a better built version of the CA-12 as well since its classified as Crests top of the line "Pro" series, the CA series is akin to their old FA series
-
...the most overlooked Crest amp would be the incredible FA-2401.
The FA series from the early 90's were the original "poor mans" pro series (like the current CA series except lower powered), the FA series was decent & reliable however the FA-2401 was in a seperate class -heavily reinforced steel, same slew rate as the pro series and like the giant 10001 had 2 discrete power transformers -although 55 lbs & not super powered it was cleanest around (580 watts /ch @ 4 ohms, 20-20khz with .1%thd.)
-
@neshatomic I agree -the Crest pro series are "the" best of the traditional power amps though the CA series are ok too (the CA-18 has better specs then the other amps in its class -crown ma 5000 or the QSC 5050 though the CA-9 had issues with temperture caused shut downs), of course for absolute perfection in fidelity and power there is no better then the 140 lb. Crest 10001 -to run 1 ohm stereo, all night at 5000 watts per ch.@20-20khz with .1% thd is amazing -although so is its 140 lb weight

that 8001 is a beauty (the CA-12 isn't too bad either)
