The Writing Life So Far...

Well as some of you already know; I've managed to get I.O.W.A. and Cyber:Terror:Machine finished. Some of you don't know I've written another short story (in fact three new short stories in the past week alone. Then written two articles, one of them is available on Devianatart.com and the other is on Associated Content. Those two articles lead me to writing a story that I didn't even see coming myself in many ways

The story itself is a social commentary about the recent boom of real person fiction appearing on the web. The story that was fast to write but didn't think I had it in me was House of Cards.




This is all the while I am trying to get Issue Seven and Tabloid Purposes 5 close to done (some of you who are still writing your stories, keep going.)




House of Cards is a backlash to all that was going on in the recent weeks by a series of assholes who've written mock stories from characters I busted my ass on, and tried to make them look like total flamers.




Now I see where Larry Niven went off on a guy who completely bastardized his creation. Mr. Niven is one of those authors I read when I was a teenager, and still remember when I got my copy of The Integral Trees and The Smoke Ring.

But House of Cards, describing the vibe to this one is going to be quite rough because I had no idea how I wanted to write this one or how it was going to turn out. I just wanted to do something that really reflected the current landscape that is 2008.




Very easy my most contemporary short story, but I can't say it's horror per say but the elements of the genre live in this one.




It's by far one of my most mature short stories as an author, and seeing what magazines will be brave enough to take this story on.

As my other work I don't have any sexual content in the story, but this one has the small town eeriness going for it. As in everyone knows everyone, and in ways -- I will call this one a slight throwback when I was living in Iowa.
