Wilson's Creek National Battlefield is the site of the first major Civil War battle fought west of the Mississippi River, pitting Confederate General Sterling Price's troops against Union soldiers under the command of General Nathanial Lyon. Two hours into the fight, Lyon became the first Union general to be killed in battle during the American Civil War. Produced for the Missouri Division of Tourism by www.wideawakefilms.com
