    Dobro, lap steel, pedal steel.

    These are all guitars, and they are all played specifically this way. Just call this thing a 9 string pedal steel guitar. The first amplified electric guitar was played this way. Look up the "Frying Pan" guitar. It was built in 1931.

    if anything i would add the kelstone to my collection of instruments rather than replace my guitars ^^ as i already play drums and piano but i have the feeling the kelstone is really too expensive and could you really strum on it like on a guitar? i mean the many strings seem to make it impossible to get some (complex) chords easily

    Eryan... I have the same problem that I cannot grip the guitar neck because of finger stiffness and pain. This is the reason why I am still very interested in getting a Kelston from Jan.  Good luck... Ed
