An atheist summer camp for children is taking place in Somerset, to offer a "godless alternative" to religious camps.

The five-day camp in Somerset for children aged eight to 17 rivals traditional breaks run by the Scouts and church groups.

Camp Quest aims to encourage scepticism and critical thinking.

  • The UK is just full of so many different beliefs, so many religions/beliefs all mixed together,

I'm from the UK and grew up in a non religious home and I'm now a Christian, the same is happening a lot i think, kids brought up in strict religious homes rebel, and those not raised in a religious home come to faith as they get older and start searching.

  • What's with the "beautiful" in the title?

  • @lukehase Why did you become a Christian?

  • @lukehase why did you choose christianity?

  • @daverigby23 if "conservatives" like David cameron support homosexuality, I can't imagine what liberals supports. 2 DIFFERENT parties are better than 3 parties that share the same sexual immorality and atheism

  • @trifulquita10 Shows how smart you are, in the UK there's conservatives, liberals and socialists. Shock horror,!! the Brits can think beyond narrow confines of two party politics. I think that would just confuse you poor yanks !

  • @trifulquita10 Yeah, and nobody laughs at the knuckle-dragging neanderthals in the good ole US of A huh? OK Billy-Bob

  • @daverigby23 christians in UK are a joke, they are pro-gay marriage like any librul. At least in America we have libruls and conservatives, in Europe all the people are libruls

  • @trifulquita10 In the UK you don't always need an opposing view, which in this case would have been from a christian. In the UK we have christians who can think for themselves, hence the lack of comment from some right wing religious nutjob, which would be the case in the US. Maybe that's a little hard to comprehend, religious people who can think for themselves. Yes, they're thin on the ground these days, less than 30 per cent of the population but they're warm and fed and looked after by nurse

  • @trifulquita10 No, it's a straight news story. Summer camps already exist for Boys Scouts, and were in fact the worlds first scout camps. If you want to be all cosy with the establishment and the Queen, then thats the place to go.

  • @daverigby23 I must be blind because i didnt see the opposing view in this reports. But i remember the reporter said that the camp is "free of religious propaganda". Ok i get it, according to the BBC we all must be atheist. Its funny, i think we all must be christian. Atheism and christianity cant live togheter in This world, one of them must dissapear

  • @trifulquita10 The BBC is strictly impartial. and therefore if one view is expressed, then the opportunity must exist to express the opposing view. Unless of course it's a straight news story. I take it you're American
