  • You are making a comparison between peaches and apples. Because Ubuntu comes with services that are useless for a netbook. If you compile your Ubuntu kernel and drop the useless services for your machine you may short the boot time of Ubuntu.

  • As you pointed out, I compared peaches and apples.

Just I hope that Ubuntu 9.10 Netbook flavor becomes faster and suitable for Netbooks by taking in Moblin technology.

After video uploading, Canonical has announced Ubuntu Moblin Remix.

    It's a great thing.

  • you guys knock off your "who has the biggest cock"-thinking. It's not only about which OS boots faster but to see how fast Moblin actually boots. I use Ubuntu very often and I don't have the time to test Moblin, but this video gave me an idea of the boot time. Thanks for uploading!

  • @rbocazl peaches and apples can be fruitfully compared.

  • i can boot in less then 10 seconds thanks to my system is loaded to an ssd

  • @Bluekill contact me, however this is EXTREMELY Risky if you do not have an OS Disc not a recovery the whole OS - As for WINE Office should WORK but WINE isn't guaranteed to work Upgrade to 7 or if still can downgrade to XP (I know right)

  • You may try the new (k)ubuntu 10.04, it runs very good here on my netbook with a bootup time around 50secs (including bios post). I think you could somehow boost it a little more

  • I have a HP netbook, produced in maybe 05' or 06', 6735b model. With it came Windows Vista and horrible HP BIOS, and overall, it's a rather slow computer. I rarely ever use it for anything other than browsing the internet, chatting, studying or playing old games. I am very curious about replacing the bios with coreboot bios and swapping vista with Moblin, Fedora 13 or something - but I need to know if it's "safe" and if I can run my school apps through WINE on it. Please PM me

  • UNR is GNOME.. Fail.

  • sorry it doesnt have your ugly gloss kde/windows touches..

  • sweet man, im running moblin 2.1 on my aao. boot time is crucial for a netbook. every os is special in their own way. dont say bad things about an os just because you think it sucks. nobody cares.

  • you must not forget that ubuntu is much more variated and extendable then moblin, moblin is good, for normal every day use of internet and that kind. otherwise I guess it's better to go with ubuntu if you like modding your OS and tweaking it a bit

  • i dont get it.. why should i be bothered by boot time... im booting my computer once a month, only after updates, when i need to turn it off i just make it sleep. the i wake it up and it 'boots' faster than moblin. because its already booted up.
