I've heard people talk about the sound of a Strad, and was unconvinced...until I heard this video. THAT violin sounds PHENOMENAL..it's almost transports you into the 16th century when you hear Vengerov play it. Truly amazing...

I would be nervous as hell if I was in a masterclass that has video cameras every where. She definitely is in the hot seat right now.

Wow, I admire them both, the teacher willing to do so much to communicate to a student and the student having the guts to be on camera while trying to absorb some complicated stuff. As for judging his or her playing, I think the nay sayers miss the point entirely. It is the convenance of ideas on how to approach a piece and how to learn by focusing and taking critique that amazes me. Very cool clip.

He always interrupts her line which is a hell of a lot better than his . he lunges
from note to note -she should get away from his style as fast as possible.

She didn't really do what he wanted. I feel that Vengorov could have explained the technique required with some specific exercises to get her to play the nuances he wanted.

@hyeinee actually she's a very good learner and she's doing perfectly well absorbing the class he's giving her, that's how a violin class should be, the teacher talks, you learn and execute.
