Rome Total War Nile Bridge Battle

The archer set up is not optimal. You're gonna want to position those archers as close to the water as possible on both sides of the bridge. This way you will be shooting them from the side and not the front which will cut them down dramatically easier.

@warriorofzues Didn't you see the Germans fighting alongside the Egyptians? You can see the Germanic flags at 1:23 . You can see a Germanic flag close-up at 2:16 , but only for a fraction of a second.

I also found it's better to position archers with a narrow front and deep ranks. The archer unit fires as a group, so once the enemy is in range of the first archers, they're in range for all archers. So, it's important to ensure the front row of archers for all groups are in range for the battle.

Your archers were hitting your hoplites. You didnt even need them, specially with the moral boost of spartans.

i do the same spartan technique, but instead of wimpy archers i bring in the big guns, heavy onagers. that way when the enemy army clogs their side of the bridge, flaming balls of stone rain down and kill around 3/4ths of the enemy army.

well that was ok i dont think you should play custom bridges it doesnt set you up for online play

actually he was also loosing men because of friendly fire... many of the arrows were hitting the backs of the Spartans I believe. It's hard that 16 Spartans will die in such a condition against low-armored units.
