steelyhendrix....according to The Companion Planting Guide, beans and peas are incompatible with any of the onion family, including garlic. However, garlic should be planted around rose bushes to ward off aphids. That is what the book says, anyway! Happy garlic growing! :>)

How many cloves of garlic will they yield?

Garlic will grow under a wide variety of soil conditions. It is said to prefer free draining loam with lots of organic matter.
can't some people use a search engine ?

What is that tool you used??? That is awesome, no back breaking with it.

Thanks for the free advice! May you be blessed for your heart's intention. "He who gives to a poor man (someone who doesn't know how to plant garlic, for instance) lends to the Lord, and He will repay him for his good deed."

Cool, thanks for the video.
Plant them in the fall, let them overwinter and in the spring they will be up and going. If it is already cold where you live, get some started indoors. Half gallon milk jug, cut away one side, add potting soil, place the garlic 2 inches apart, put in a sunny window, and in a few weeks, you get nice fresh green shoots. To harvest, pull up whole plant, peel bulb til white, wash in running water til clean. Enjoy!

Don't push them in as it compacts the soil beneath the roots. Scratch the row deeper instead.
