That is one awsome looking and running Reid i have had the pleser of running this engine at ur local tractor show iam good friends with the Owner: Al Philbrick of West Branch Michigan he brings the engien to the local show every year it is a really nice engien to work with one of the nicest ones i have ever run

it seems to fire when it's near the bottom of the stroke is that the way to keep it running slower?

You hear the exhaust when the piston uncovers the exhaust port, which is near the bottom of the power stroke. You can see the piston rod speed up at the beginning of the power stroke.
