XGL on Dell M1710

This is XGL on my XPS M1710 back in 2006 with Suse Linux 10.1. It did run really smooth at 1920x1200. Here showing windows fx, a short hi-definition video on VLC dragged around, Blender and finally the water plugin fx.

XGL appena istallato sul mio XPS M1710 con Suse 10.1. Fluidissimo anche a 1920x1200, nel video mostro vari effetti con le finestre, un video ad alta definizione che scorre sui 4 desktop, Blender e il plugin effetto acqua.

I have both versions of Karoraa XGL OS and I'm going to install it on my new Asus G2S-A4 gaming laptop. I can't imagine how all those fools with Mac's in my class going to react after seeing me play with it during class! The will be in awe for sure!

I suggest a fresh distro such as Kubuntu or Ubuntu or Suse 10.3. They have new and better kernel, plus you can utilize Compiz Fusion without XGL, using direct rendering (nvidia).

It depends on ur config.

Mine was about 2,600 euro, but this was a year ago. Now it should be cheaper.

I'm now about to reinstall another distro (maybe *ubuntu) btw installation is quite easy on nvidia cards, and I would install CompizFusion, resulting from reunion of beryl and compiz teams.

These effects are much better than osx on macs

I must admit that XGL is amazing, way better than Aero, but some visual effects are copied from Exposé and Aqua...
