kayak fishing's darling couple in trouble in challenging surf

The 2009 Fishing Corner kayak fishing competition saw 160 competitors launch. Porra and Mr Angazi had some trouble paddling out through the surf.

They would not have had ANY problem if they had kept paddling hard, non-stop all the way out. You simply can not just sit there and let the wave come to you. And, an experienced kayaker would make even surf row boats look lame.

Hummmm perhaps a coupke of white water classes are in order. :)

IMO these are fairly big dumpers and high volume kayaks. Stay inside and hop the broken waves until there is a window between sets and then paddle like mad. Even an experience kayaker in a surf kayak would tumble taking dumpers like that in the lap or chest.
