Postlude: God of Our Fathers (with America the Beautiful) (arr. Foncannon)

Church of the Palms combined its traditional worship service with a commemoration of Veterans Day during its November 7, 2009 service and blended patriotic themes within its worship music. The Congregation this day welcomed back Elaine Reinhardt, Pianist, who offers her talents to the worship services during her winter stay in Florida. This piano - organ duet features Elaine and Director of Music and Organist, Edward Krynicki in this fitting conclusion to this service which was received well by members and visitors.

"America the Beautiful" is an American patriotic song. The lyrics were written by Katharine Lee Bates and the music composed by church organist and choirmaster Samuel A. Ward. In 1893, at the age of thirty-three, Bates, an English professor at Wellesley College, had taken a train trip to Colorado Springs. Several of the sights on her trip inspired her, and they found their way into her poem. The majestic view of the Great Plains from high atop Zebulon's Pikes Peak inspired the text.
