So what you are saying that you have a fire alarm(s) in your room and it went off and you woke up?

I was responding to plyror's comment previously. They may not know there is a fire if they are in REM sleep. The fire alarm with the parents' voices is a great idea as long as it will wake the child up.I am referring to a case when a parent is unable to reach their child's bedroom.Children should have a chance to save themselves. If they are in REM sleep, do not respond to the fire alarm, and the parent cannot get to them to save them, then the only thing we can do is to pray someone can save them.

Parents can be may not be able to help their children if there is a fire. The fire may be in a location that does not allow access to their child's bedroom. Children should have a chance to save themselves. I am talking about children old enough to wake up, get out of bed, and leave the house on their own. Children should not be treated as helpless individuals and need to be able to take care of themselves in the event of a fire if the parents are not able to.

Ok. If that's true, HOW would they know if there's a fire and they're in deep REM sleep?!
