  • If you make your coupler with the springs left in your clutch disc you won't strip the splines out. That it what the springs are for to take some of the torque on start ups. Just a suggestion. I haven't had any problems making them that way.

  • the machine shop used 1/8" set screws and i forgot the loctite. i had the set screws up sized to 1/4".

  • the coupler problem has been fixed and i did not need to issue a recall. when the coupler moved it damaged the splines at the rear of the adaptor. so i ground the welds off and had a new clutch hub mounted. with the set screws upsized and useing loctite the coupler shoud never move. as for useing the clutch its a great idea. you could disconnect the motor in an emergancy. with a solid coupler i cant. in my earlier EV build i used lovejoys connectors.  that was a bad idea. i had alinement issue
