David Gerrold, who wrote for the original Star Trek series, wrote the original version of this episode. This is not 'just nerds in cheesey outfists trying to recreate only the most shallow elements.'
Actually David Gerrold wrote the script blood and fire for star trek the next generation but it was never used. These guys have rewritten that script to make it work for the original series but as anyone with any sense can tell you within 30 seconds of watching this amateur college student garbage... it doesn't work.
@InfiniteFish1979 Uhmm...you do realize this is just an amateur fan production, don't you? Of course everything is cheesy. They have a very limited budget. And it does have a plot...sort of.
You have to take into consideration that Jame's Day job is a top flight Elvis impersonator. So he has a bigger issue of not channeling Elvis, not Shat.
My only complaint is that the actor playing Kirk is trying to be like William Shatner playing Captain Kirk rather than just being Captain Kirk. It makes it almost a parody in a seriously amazing fan flick!

this is just nerds in cheesy outfits trying to recreate only the most shallow elements of the original series but with no plot to hook you in.
in other words...
this blows.
