This clip shows the acceleration of my Octavia Mk 2 vRS from standstill to 140mph. Then after having to slow down for a couple of cars and a tunnel i do a couple of top speed runs. The indicated speed on the satnav is 156mph.

  • The car is a 200bhp TFSi not a diesel. When this video was taken the car was stock.

I now have a completely different setup and the car will now do 171mph Microstat GPS timing gear proven. That is the fastest any Mk2 Octavia can go unless you change the gearbox as I was virtually redlining in 6th to get that speed. All done on the autobahn.

    @muthu161 my stock 0-100km/h (0-62mph) timing was 7.2 secs. My stock 0-100mph (0-160km/h) was 17.4 secs.

  • Er trust me when this video was taken the car was stock. I dont know what my 0-200km/h time was as i never recorded it. The only timings i have ever recorded were 0-62mph (0-100km/h) and 0-100mph (0-160km/h) and got 7.2 and 17.4 respectivley.

  • I trust you ... Your 0-100 and 0-160 times are the stocks cars value :) Aren't you planning to chip it ? I have the same car and after superchips the difference is huge :)

  • as i said when that video was taken the car WAS stock ;)

im now running a completely diff setup and the difference is as you say HUGE ;)

  • oh my man. great!!

    where it was? in uk?

    nice ride

  • No it wasnt in the UK it was done on the autobahn in germany. As i said below i wouldnt even contemplate driving anywhere near that speed in the UK. I kinda like my freedom

  • Great car. In this part of Scotland just about every second one you see is a Taxi but that only shows how reliable they are.

I certainly hope German drivers pay more attention before changing lanes than some people in the UK!

  • Thanks for this video,i have same car also.

  • it did have very long gear ratios as i said 105mph in 3rd gear but i will admit the acceleration was terrible took like 9.5 seconds to get to 60 so the gear ratios must have been very long also i did forget to mention i bought it at one of these ex police car dealers so it must have been a motorway car i think in the end the gearbox went so i had to scrap a few years back now ive got a cheap 96 skoda felicia bought it for 300 quid and it has quick acceleration for a 1.3 lol

  • @shredmaster100 Closer gear ratios mean cars have slower tops speeds and lower top speeds in gear. Your 1998 was probably lucky to have 5 gears. Now cars are getting 7 cogs, so the top speed in gear and overall will be lower. Better acceleration and probably better economy too.

  • is it just me or are new cars slower than old ones i mean i used to have an old 1998 2litre vauxhall vectra and that would do 145mph top speed and 105mph in 3rd gear so it does seem due to eu regulations that new cars are slower

  • nice car :)

  • hi, please, is it a front or rear wheel drive?

  • My old mk1 vrs was faster 0-60 than my new 2.0 fsi turbo

  • is it diesel? 0-100 timing?

  • what a car after one my self would havovan focus s† anyday

  • I would have to agree with you on that theberengersniper... I been to scotland and every other taxi is a skoda lol
