Marble Canyon is just north of Grand Canyon National Park on the Colorado River. This is the southern descent from Page, Arizona on Hwy-89 as it traverses Echo Cliffs toward the Canyon floor.
The final shot is aimed directly at the Grand Canyon, although it's still 20 miles away.
This is the closest you're allowed to get in a full-length, eighteen wheeler.
I just happened to hit this stretch of road at exactly the right moment during a beautifully-lit sunset.
Wish I had high-def....
The dobro solo is by Jerry Douglas (Alison Krauss & Union Station) from their 2002 "LIVE" album.

  • Absolutely awesome. Our crew and myself had the privelage of riding this same road on our harleys back in 2008. We rode from Tulsa, OK, over the Rocky Mountains, through Marble Canyon and into Las Vegas. Some unforgettable country, thats for sure. Thanks for sharing.

  • Outstanding, I use to travel to AZ all the time, but after the economy dumped I lost my job and my days of traveling were over. This brought back great memories set to a great Dobro players music. All I need now is a shot a beer and a ice cube sandwich at Grease Wood Flats. Damn I miss AZ. Thanks again.
