HP 88781A magnetic tape drive with 6250cpi tape. Controlled from Linux (tar command) over SCSI interface. These 10,5inch tape reels can hold up-to 170MB of data. More info about this tapedrive on my Hardware Museum: http://hardware.najd.cz/nej.php#a0538

  • @dougluce he's surely copying some files from and to the tape file system.

    the same happens in any media, be it a cd, hard drive, floppy disk, a notepad, your cellphones contacts and a sheet of paper.....

    In what situation do you see it "overflowing" a buffer?. it's a block device, and it's not working within the limits of a 16bit uint or a 32bits one, it's more like in the begining and to make it easier....look at the display...READING, WRITING,READING, WRITING,READING, WRITING......

    Anyway, how does Ubuntu recognize the drive as? Like a floppy or a disk?

    And what command did you use?

  • kinda looks like something's overflowing a buffer; why's it jerking the tape back so many times?
