so that it could operate into short arfields with no jeteways, and use stairs. the short gear adds to the beauty for me.

welll if the nose gear was tall its would look like the tu-154 with 2 engines and that plane is NOT atractive

I love the MD-90, but hate the MD-80. To me, the MD-80 is out of proportions due to it's skinny JTD's... but these engines are much better.
