I just found a solution to this problem- before you duplicate the layer, in the new frame, turn the layers visibility off first. then duplicate the layer. the new layer will still be in all the previous frames, but will automatically be set to invisible. now you can set the layer to be visible in the newest frame, and it will not affect any of the previous frames.

I am having the same issue. I am pretty new to this I am sketching out a quick frame by frame animation in CS3 and for each frame I create a new layer and draw in the next cell, but the new image appears in every previous frame. Is there a way to lock frames or something?

Can someone tell me if there's a setting i can turn on or off that would automatically NOT include a layer i duplicated into every single frame i have? Every time i duplicate a layer i have to deselect it from all the frames i have. It's a real first world problem. I'd really appreciate someone helping me with this.

when i draw in a frame , all the others change , so i draw 7 frame and than i realised it xD
