@prairiemark BS. Most of you RCC's dead "saints" were evil lying treacherous scum who wil be in Hell along with JPII , praying to them is plain spiritism , which is a common practice in satanic vatican . Anglican and Eastern what is the difference from pagan catholicism apart from papal lordship ?
@medusa210562 It matters not if you view revelation as eschatology or not. We have a record of saints in heaven presenting the prayers of saints on earth to God. And we both believe angels praise the Lord. We also have sailors crying out to holy apostles and saints...in a kind of prayer. The significance of the angels praying was not their prayer....but that people were praying to them and asking them to God before God and praise him.
@medusa210562 Your faith differs from historic Christianity in a number of ways and this is one of them. A reasonable reading of the Bible seem to make one conclude the saints are alive after death....you say they are not alive in any way. Your tradition teaches this, I understand that.
@prairiemark revelation is eschatology, the picture of what it will be. seen in visions by john. The saints sleep now. I can give you a bible study on this. But I agree with you one one think, the angles praise God, so?
@prairiemark I made a mistatement in the post. The saints who have died are alive again and not dead. I might point out that prayers to saints who have died is not a distinctly Catholic doctrine. Many Anglican and Puritan protestants have done so as well. The evangeleists John and Charles Wesley prayed to saints. Eastern Rite believers do too, and some others.
@medusa210562 Catholics ask saints, living and dead to intercede for them. A good picture of the role of saints in heaven is Rev 5:8 where the saints in heaven present the prayers of the saints on earth to God. Another place would be Rev 18:17-20 Where the sailors called out to the holy apostles and prophets in heaven. There are other places in Psalms where the writer calls out to angels to praise God. Didnt you learn about this when you were a Catholic or during your 38 years of Bible study?
@prairiemark give me this examples of people praying to saints and angels. give them to me. And don't trivialize, Catholics ask dead saints for miracles. I was a catholic, I was a very strong practicing catholic. I used to play the clarinet behind the processions of saints in south Italy.
@prairiemark It matters if it is escahtology, I will be one of those saint, If by the grace of God I will persevere and will not give up.
