RAMONA (Lyrics)

Sings: Dolores del Río
Written for her film "Ramona" (1928)
(Mabel Wayne / L. Wolfe Gilbert)

I wander out yonder o'er the hills
Where the mountains high, seem to kiss the sky
Someone's up yonder o'er the hills
Waiting patiently, waiting just for me

Ramona, I hear the mission bells above
Ramona, they're ringing out our song of love
I press you, caress you
And bless the day you taught me to care
I'll always remember
The rambling rose you wore in your hair

Ramona, when the day is done you'll hear my call
Ramona, we'll meet beside the waterfall
I dread the dawn
When I awake to find you gone
Ramona, I need you, my own

Ramona, when the day is done you'll hear my call
Ramona, we'll meet beside the waterfall
I dread the dawn
When I awake to find you gone
Ramona, I need you, my own

  • All of you, tune in to Abendstunde and the marvellous publicity paintings for Ramona with thrilling text, a cultural treasure trove! Dolores del Río was a household name in Sweden, everybody loved her, and some of us still revere her! One still hears her Ramona being played on the radio. In Acapulco of the 1960s and '70s Merle Oberon and Dolores were best friends. Great to think that the two major beauty goddesses of all time were so close! Nobility of sentiments indeed!!

  • Ramona by Dolores del Rio can also be heard on the soundtrack of the French film "Harry un ami qui vous veut du bien" (released as "Harry he's here to help" in the UK and "With a Friend like Harry" in the USA). Second time is while the end credits roll.

  • @siempremarisol Gracias, Marisol. Ahi lei algo. La critica dice que es mejor la traduccion de Marti que la novela original de Helen Hunt. =D
