"The Film Factory" or "Amadeus on a Steenbeck"
is my FOURTH film for Sight and Sound: Film in the Kanbar institute of film and television of the Tisch school of the arts at NYU.
A Steenbeck is the flatbed editing machine that NYU film students use to edit their 16 mm films. I took sound effects from the Steenbeck room and cobbled them together into a version of Raymond Scott's classic jazz composition "Powerhouse." Powerhouse is often used in cartoons as the theme song for any factory or machine, which made it appropriate for the Steenbeck. I made it look like I was playing the music using the Steenbeck.
