@EdwardWhelanPiano Yes, that was why he concentrated on modern music, because he was too old to have a chance on mastering classical theory. At least thats how they put it when in remembrance of his encounter with Messiaen.

This guy wrote a lot considering he came to music relatively late in life. I marvel at these dense, yet colourful orchestral textures.
