  • Rachel- It is somewhat unusual to have such signficant swelling with a stress fracutre. MRI imaging can be a useful tool to determine if you have multiple stress fractures. Immobilization in a cast boot should improve your swelling after a short period of time if it is truly a stress fracture. Best wishes.

  • I had a stress facture before 2 months at the first and fifth metatarsal.I still cant walk normally and sometimes i dont feel my fingers. What i can do at home? Water exercises will help? A response from you would be great.

  • @thealexpap18 : Thanks for your message. I am concerned about your first metatarsal stress fracture diagnosis. I have never seen a stress fracture of the first metatarsal so I would recommend that you discuss this with your treating physician. Also, stress fractures of the fifth metatarsal are typically "Jones fracture" which can be difficult to treat and heal. Please check with your pyhsician as to normal treatment protocols for this injury. regards.

  • I was on an exercise program before I got a stress fracture are there any exercises I can do in the next 2 months that are ok to do while wearing the boot ?

  • @Zahra4President : Don't let the stress fracture stop your exercise program: You can get on a stationary bike and cycle with the boot on. Sometimes you can swim based on the type of fracture. You can definately do core exercises to maintain strength. You should check with your physician because an uncomplicated stress fracture should allow you to advance into your shoes around four weeks. This will allow you to get onto a stationary bike and pedal with your shoe on much earlier.

  • @SanLuisPodiatry Thankyou for replying back I will try and I am actually wearing the boot you had in your video but its hard to use the stationary bike with it on can I take the boot off just while Im on the bike ?

  • @Zahra4President Check with your physician but sometimes you can slip a shoe on and place the pedal in the middle of the foot and pedal at a high intensity ( high RPM) and low gearing.

  • Thank you for the video! After 2 weeks of spontaneous swelling to the entire top of my foot, mainly from the second metatarsal to the fifth and minor pain I was diagnosed with a stress fx with no X-ray findings (taken 3 days after swelling began). I have no difficulty moving my toes, but wonder why I have pain to the top of 4 metatarsals and over my extensor tendons, especially at the top of my ankle. I have difficulty pointing my foot without tightness and pain. Should I be concerned somethin

  • @nickdrewdustin85 Either the high or low cast boot should be sufficent for treating your fracture. Best of health.
