A short review of the light my fire brand spork/spoon combo. Not really a piece of gear we would say to run out and buy for your Bug out bag or ghb. But one that would do well as a back up . Stay tuned for more gear reviews and movies.
i got the titanium one. its awesome it wont brake in half and it wont melt or enything like that. plus its pretty much as light weight as the plastic one. the bad thing is probebly the price. or if u cant afford or think its anesisery to get the TI one then i think u just can tape the handle with some duct tape. i never used a plastic spork but i think that will prevent it from crackng like that
2 of my three have broken in the same spot as yours. Both times when I was gently stirring some pasta. I use a Trangia non stick set up so ca't really go with a metal untensil of any kind. May have to go wooden if of course there is anything suitable. Also. Both my breakages came within 2 weeks of purchase.
2 years of use from something that costs about $2 a piece isn't bad at all. It's not meant to last forever. I think people need to realize that this product is intended for use with backpacking type foods such as MREs, dehydrated meals, stews, soups, etc. For it's intended purpose this product performs very well, but like everything else it has it's limitations. Store it with your boiling pot, canteen cup, or mess kit and it won't get bent up in your pack.
As far as having to dig way down into the M.R.E. pouches, I've had the same problem until a friend of mine told me to cut them length wise. It was so smart it was stupid. I don't think the same logic would apply to the Mt. House products though. Thanks for the review. keep'em coming.
I have carried these for years now! I put them in my mess kit because I have had the same issue with them breaking in the past. Although I am still partial to my titanium spork I picked up at REI. That is the one I take with me on long hikes or long time out camping trips! Honest reviews are the best keep up the good work!

You should try the new titanium one

I've broken three of these. They aren't good to stir heavy food like dense rice.
