A toy "DJ mixer" that plays cassettes and transmits on 1610 AM. The quality of the signal is actually very good, as it appears to be crystal-controlled. The range of the signal isn't very far, though. One of these would be useful for playing your favorite music on an antique AM radio. It works better than many AM transmitter kits I've seen, from companies like Ramsey. The only limitation is that you can't change the frequency, at least not without opening it up and modifying the circuit.

  • What's the music that starts at 2:17

    Nice video !

  • @darklink223456 "In The Mood" by the Glenn Miller Orchestra.

  • Nice looking SRF-A100 there in the end almost looks mint with the exception of that sticker. I have the SRF-42 myself but its put away no more AM stereo stations in my area but looking to put a low power one on the air sometime soon.

  • @bratina501 My SRF-A100 works perfectly but has quite a few dents and scratches on the front panel and is missing the battery cover. It was a gift from a friend, though, so I can't complain too much!

  • Would the DJ work without the antenna?

  • @AmyCTV No, these low-power AM transmitters are a tuned circuit which requires an antenna in order to put out a signal.

  • @vwestlife Thanks alot !

  • I worked on this as a Designer at Wild Planet...of course "Professional Quality" was hard to achieve since we had to wring every penny out of the COGs to hit a low pricepoint...but then again it was intended for kids, as a toy and they did seem to like it.

  • Wow. I have been looking for this thing for years.......... I finally found it. Thankyou. :)

  • Man I had one of those things. I miss it. Any ideas where I can get it besides ebay? or is that my only option. i got it in christmas of 2000 and it died on me in 2008. The sound quality was actually pretty good for a 20 dollar toy. The range was pretty good as well.

  • I've visioned the ad in the early 2000s. In it, the kids extracted the mickey out of their dad by tricking him to win a lottery.

  • This is actually pretty cool! If one of these was made on just a slightly less "child like" basis, it would fly.

  • Remembered when I had it, but i think I broken the microphone.

  • i want one so muchim hoping next payday i can get it
