This is my girlfriend solving the Rubik's Cube in an official WCA competition.

She uses Layer by Layer (the one I taught on my page). This was her fastest time. She usually averages about 50 seconds. I am very proud of her!

  • Strange... I can average about 40-45 seconds and I solve it way damn slow; often my cube locks up and I waste time. Is she doing F2L, and one-step PLL? I know that speeds up your solve a lot.

  • She is using Layer by layer and a 4 step last layer. Sometimes her last layer takes her 9-10 steps.

  • That's really fast for being layer by layer. If she's interested enough to try and compete (and good enough to do times like that using layer by layer) why not learn more?

  • This was 8 months ago. She now knows the Full Intuitive Fridrich. She got an Average of 5 in math class the other day that was better than her official personal best (the one in this video) :)

  • Wait she beat her record at a competition

  • Yes. I also beat my 5x5 personal best in this competition.

  • you girlfriend is...is...MONSTER!!!

  • if this is really a beginnrs metzhod (layer by layer) then this is incredibly fast indeed... My best time with layer by layer was 2 min. I guess i didnt knew all those fingertricks back then. Teach her Fridrich Method, she might get sub 20 then... real talents need to be educated to achive full potential.... Thumbs up!

  • My Rubiks Cube PB.. I was amazed when i saw the 46.66 numbers on title.

P.S My friend used to solve Layer By Layer method in 18-25 seconds. Now he uses Fridrich, but, he made a sudden record with skips on 14.XX seconds.

  • Nice! You are a lucky couple to as to share cubing in common..

I started cubing about 3 months ago, and my wife says she hates the cube already :P

Btw I'm now moving out fo begginer's method into Fidrich (OLL and PLL for the moment as the F2L are a bit hard for me so I'm using keylock for the time being) and I'm averaging 45-50 seconds, with a personal best of lucky 30" with a LL skip.

  • hey i'm using the beginner method to and my personal best time is 32 seconds

  • good job lol, she should use the fridich, it will cut down her time and by watching the video, i could see that if she uses fridlich, she could get like 30-40 seconds

  • I'm faster...

  • Sorry, i realize this comment is 4 mo. old and you may be a Fridrich Queen by now, but if you are not, you MUST go watch the videos by "badmephisto." He's smart and a good teacher.

  • Heh... He means that in an average of five goes, she got better than her best time.

  • its really not once you get the jist

  • layer by layer got me to about 50sec fastest, now im doin f2l and oll and pll and get 30 sec fastest

  • Waiiiiiiiiiit....average of 5...seconds?

THAT'S 4 SECONDS LESS THAN THE WORLD RECORD
