I just got my 5 axis MAXNC hack working tonight. On a 5-axis machine, the tool orientation and the point on the workpiece are programmed separately. You can change one without changing the other. You can see in this video that the tooltip is over the workpiece (penny) which is at X1 Y1. As I move the rotary axes B and C to change the tool orientation, the tip does not move with respect to the workpiece. This requires complex compensating motion of the table and head. This is possible with the power of the Free and Open Source EMC2 motion control software. Work in EMC2 to support these kinds of machines is ongoing. http://www.linuxcnc.org
What is accuracy of rotary table ?

... I'm stupid, nevermind lol.

You're not counting the rotary table as a fifth axis right? As shown in the video it is only a manipulation of the x and y axis. Do you plan to set the table on its side to make it a proper additional axis?

5-axis, that's amazing.

What board is it? Do you have the model/item name of it? Is it running stepper motor or servo? can you list out all the parts and sources? I want to build a serious one using servo motors

Chris,
I assume, I like your machine. I too am considering a C-frame mini bedmill much like yours. I was wondering what you chose for your full operating and controlling system from software-controller-driver-motors? sound advise from experience would be greatly appreciated.
