As funny as I think this skit is, I think it has such a deeper message than just its humor. George Carlin is simply brilliant in that respect. If you just think about it, we're simply just a little speck on the timeline of Earth's inhabitants, and we will be after we're gone and some new species inhabits the Earth. To think we'll reign here forever is something I find absurd.

I'm not sure why you people have to keep talking about it, God's dead.

I personally, wish i was stupid. This way i'd believe i was going to live forever by the grace of a god who somehow existed before everything, yet had "power" even tho "power" in of itself did not exsist at the time. Truthfully, there was one thing that Carl Marx said that was correct. Gods were made up to keep people segragated into groups so that they wouldnt unite.

@Ohfukmoment - and politics, race, ethnicity, idealogies do not segregate people? The 21st centruy - a good example of idealogy that also divided people....cant blame God on that!

Bro, speaking from my perspective, there ain't a god. That being said, I think that if there is a "God" then he could have easily shut Carlin up when he started talking shit. Random thought, but I think it makes sense.

I don't really know how this became a discussion about "god", but none-the-less faith is simply a metaphor for ignorance!

If people would only engage in reading (and by that I mean empirical evidence based reading, not pure fiction) and educated themselves, then perhaps we would all be better off.

It is a shame that we can be so advanced and yet many of us chose to remain shadowed in the past. Question everything, don't assume, don't live in ignorance; be free!

Of course I'm of the opinion that if we actually survive and thrive then the planet won't survive us. You can just build too many artificial habitats, all circling the Sun independently, out of those 6,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 tons of raw materials it consists of.

If our species dies out the Earth will remain for a few billion more years. But it's a pointless existence, because the Earth isn't self-aware. Yet if we live then the Earth will be gone in another 100,000 years...
