How to Keep and Breed Blaptica dubia Roaches - Part I

This is a video I made awhile back and just recently took the time to split and put onto YouTube. It's a little outdated with some of the methods I use but is still a good base for anyone looking to start their own colony. One thing I want to point out is that I do not add juice to the water crystals anymore. They were accumulating mold too fast when I did that. Plain water is just fine.

What setting do you set your heatpads at, and do you put them under the whole enclosure?

Just under 1 side of the enclosure. Try to create a heat gradient as you would for a reptile.

do they breed quicker the higher the temp? because the temps in mine are

103f on the bottom (closest to the heatmat)

85f in the middle of the egg crates

77f on the top

Females have a large last segment on their butt, males have a small one. same as nymphs and adults!
