Hey, i am doing a project on mixed media and subliminal messages in advertising. i am going to use this as an example to back up my claim, and i was wondering if someone could tell me some of the glorifications of buying "belvedere vodka" that are created in this commercial. also, can you tell me what you think stands out in your personal opinion that might make u want to buy this particular brand of vodka: such as maybe you see that the people who drink get the girls..thanks

I' m not sure whether there really is such a thing as subliminal advertizing, but here drinking is portrayed as an essentially fun, hip, groovy thing to do.

This is doubly reinforced by the choice to feature a Vincent Gallo, who is a celebrity, but specifically of the hip, "edgy" or "indie" variety.

It is a common strategy for "highbrow" advertisements to presume some prior knowledge of who's who, maybe so the target audience already feels part of the party, so to speak.

I don't think Subliminal Messages exist. They have been proven not to work(I.E. The Satan City Commercials). Also, the only thing in this commercial that sticks out is the "unusualness" of the video. How nothing seems to be of the ordinary. That MAY incline somebody to want to buy the Vodka. When I saw this commercial I searched for the name of the Vodka and the name of the song.
