Mini clip of Edward Dennis Fogell plying the part of german abortionist doctor "Kurt" in "Detective Story" by Ben Kingsley. The backstory on this clip is that this production was mounted at The Chicago Actors Studio and directed by Edward Dennis Fogell. On this particular evenings performance, Ed showed up at the theater 45 minutes before curtain only to discover that the actors that was to play "Kurt" was ill along with the understudy. In a desperate move complying with the concept that "the show must go on", Ed garbed any suit out of wardrobe and went on stage without rehearsal and relying on both his vague memory of the exact lines and the trust in his actors. The actor playing "Det McLeod" opposite Ed in this clip is Jeff Norman,who was also a teacher at The Chicago Actors Studio at the time this was shot. A movie version of this play featured, Kurt Douglas and William Bendix.
