Mana Maoli-Collective
OAHU SHOW TOMORROW (THUR 5/27) LEIMOMI - ANUHEA, MIKE LOVE, MAMA T, CHARTER SCHOOL YOUTH, ERNIE CRUZ,IKAIKA HUSSEY AND NATURAL VIBES.

Returning home from a 3-week tour in Aotearoa (New Zealand), the Mana Maoli Collective (MMC) has planned a May concert series consisting of four music and hula performances across three Hawaiian islands -- O'ahu, Maui, and Hawai'i. Proceeds from the concerts will go to Na Lei Na'auao, an alliance of 12 Hawaiian culture, community and environment-based charter schools.

The MMC hosted workshops and performed in nearly 2 dozen shows across 5 cities in Aotearoa. The impetus for the tour was the 18th Annual Pasifika Festival, which attracts over a quarter million people annually from dozens of nations in the Pacific. The MMC had the honor of being the first group of Hawaiians to represent traditional and modern music and dance at this festival, as the headline act on the main "international" stage.

The MMC is a new generation of local Hawaiian music. Ranging from seasoned veterans and living legends, to underground and adolescent prodigies, the MMC includes hundreds of artists. Representing the MMC at one or more performances in the May Concert series, as one all-star band taking turns in lead and backup roles!

Do not miss out on a collaborative performance this rare. The unique styles and sounds of these artists form an innovative weave of what we call Maoli Music - from traditional Hawaiian to contemporary, jazz to reggae, and blues to hip-hop.

Mana Maoli Collective ~information and ways to kokua!~MAKES A GREAT CHRISTMAS GIFT!

The Mana Maoli Collective refers to the hundreds of musicians - student, backyard and pro artists - who have supported Halau Ku Mana and Na Lei Na'auao over the years, primarily via contributions to our Mana Maoli CD's and concerts. Na Lei Na'auao is an alliance of 12 culture, community and environment-based charter schools, grounded in a pedagogy of "Education with Aloha". These schools demonstrate academic and cultural excellence and many student turnaround success stories, despite funding and facilties challenges.

Now, Mana Maoli, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in support of Halau Ku Mana Public Charter School, Na Lei Na'auao, and other programs that strive for community based education and sustainability, has the honor of sending the first group of Hawaiians to represent Hawai'i at the 18th annual Pasifika Festival in Aotearoa, which attracts over a quarter million people, with dozens of Pacific nations sharing their traditional and modern music, dance, crafts, food, clothing, etc.

Buying a shirt ($20) helps send the group to Aotearoa.

To order a shirt, call 295-MANA, or 295-6262, you can also email manamaoli@yahoo.com.
