  • I think people should take time to remember that in the 1930's and 40's people were not concerned about preserving history let alone giant chunks of iron that have been floating and bobbing around in the ocean for the past few decades. These ships were not seen as pieces of priceless history, they were seen as dated ships with expensive metal. At that time in history and with a impending war apon them, id scrap and reuse all the iron i could find too. Its just the sad turnout of history.

  • Interesting Fact: All White Star Line ships end in "IC" ex,Titanic, Olympic & Britannic. Much like all of Cunards ships end in "IA" Mauretania, Lusitania excluding Cunards Queen Mary fleet. Another interesting fact, Britannic was to recieve the name Gigantic, but the WSL thought this name was too grand for the ship and too arrogant for the company. In any case none of this matters now, as cunard owns all white star line rights from a merger that happened in the mid 1930's.

  • olympic didnt sink, it was sold andthe metal was used to build other metal structures or ships ect, some of its elaborate furnashings are in hotels and stuff.

  • people hear me. i was confused also. this dude published a book 14 years before the titanic sunk about a ship called the titan books called futility:the wreck of the titan, which is FICTIOUS. there a ship sank and 3000 ppl died.NOT REAL

  • @mariokart9210 No Olympic didn't sank but this video is just about the sisters.

  • Olympic had a good life. I am very sad, angry & hurt that the Olympic was scrapped. I believe that she would have been better off at the bottom of the Ocean, then at the hands of those damn scrap merchants.

  • @mariokart9210 R.M.S Olympic first began her service in 1911 and ended in 1935, she was even a troopship that sunk to subs in WWI

  • acenace24,you tell people to use wikipedia or google but did you used it by yourself?

Did'n you known that britannic sunk by a MINE and NOT a TORPEDO?Ignorant.

  • where did you get the picture at 1:55 ???i really want it for my background

  • @mariokart9210

They never said that, the designer said it was safe and "practically unsinkable". Media changed that to "unsinkable". Btw, most people didn't care one iota about the safety of those ships, luxury and speed was what made the headlines.

Later when the ship sunk some people remembered reading "unsinkable" in the newspapers and it gave birth to a whole myth, perpetruated by stupid Hollywood movies too.
